Light Gate was originally released at the 2024 RISC OS Wakefield Show on the 27th of April 2024. See the news section for more information. Back Story Your uncle passed away. He left you a tape recorder. When you played it there was a sound on it that you had never heard before. You felt like you were falling and called for help. A voice answered 'Welcome to the Grid'. Can you escape the Grid through the Light Gates back to your own world? Game Play Light Gate is a game with mixed modes of play including: - 2.5D zones - Minigames - 3D combat and conversation features - Puzzles - Aracde action and more. You have fallen into a strange realm after listing to a haunted audio tape! Can you find a way to escape before being absorbed by the grid? How to Play Walk through the zone - which is presented in 2.5D to collect and use objects. Avoid the wandering phages as these will try to consume you. Travel through the light gates and speak with entities, fight guardians, enter mini-games or move between zones to try and find a way out. You can collect orbs around the zone, via mini-games or playing Defend Mode. When fighting the guardians, use th emouse to move and click to fire. Make sure that you have some light orbs before fighting the guardians. Some cut scenes have tutorial information in them, others contai story elements. Skip cut scenes if you do not wish to watch them. Save your progress regularly. Video Series Light Gate has been in development since 2022. A video series under the working title "Escape to the Light" is here: Discovered Unknown Audio Tape Tracks The inspiration for this game was a reel of tape found in a charity shop. The tape was unlabeled and contained spooky / weird music concrete and sound effects.
